Paper woes...

Ok so i'm about to start page four of my paper and i've already covered two of the three main points of my paper. I mean i know the third point is the biggest by far but I don't think it's four pages worth. And he wants this thing 1.5 spaced! Hahahahaha... don't think that's gonna happen... One of my two sources is just too small. And I don't like to give millions of examples in las casas that all say the same thing... I'm gonna have to start using more examples though to get through all of this... i don't have any huge block quotes so that at least is looking good. My french is abismal though. Gonna need some crazy amounts of editing more than likely. Well i should stop procrastinating and get crackin'. Vale!

Another paper!

Yeah, so I'm starting work on my french paper that I am determined to make better than my history paper that I got a B- on. Blah! It's the lowest grade I've gotten since I got here and I'm annoyed. It could have been so much better. I knew it was crap when I turned it in. Too many quotes and nothing to say about them... And I spent all this time on Petrarch because I'm in love with him and I got all distracted. Blah. So I'm gonna meet with the teacher and talk about it. Yeah, but I should have spent another day on it. I was so tired though I didn't have enough time to fix it. But this paper has to be in french. it's gonna be disatrous. i'm planning a day just for french editing. Anywho, must get to it. vale!

Library Lethargy

Why does the Reg. have the power to put me in such a robot like stupor?! Blah, I'm getting way too good at this dumb job. I usually have over an hour till kill after each cart because I finish so early. I mean I could go and get another one to do but they don't care how much we do and don't expect us to come back before 30min per shelf elapses. So end up on a computer doing nothing... Blah!

Begining of Spring Break!

Wahoo!!! It's spring break... Doesn't really feel like it because I really ought to work all week since I'm really broke because of this study abroad deposit I have to pay. Right now I'm thinking about strategizing about the best way to ask my parents for money to help pay for Paris... Nothing amazing has come to mind yet but I'll think of something. It's just weird because they don't help me out at all since I'm here. Both of them practically forgot my birthday and my mom flat out said if she got me anything it wouldn't be anytime soon cuz she's broke from just moving and all the travel with work. That and I really don't want their help. I mean is that so weird? I like doing things myself if I can and I think I could almost swing it if I didn't have to go to field training this summer. I have all this stuff I have to get for field training that I can't afford and then I don't get to work for a month! Thank you Air Force! So we have to ask the folks! Maybe, I'll write them a letter! That could work! A letter! Hmmm... Oh and also I have to write a french paper this week because I didn't have time at the end of the quarter and it's not due till monday of next quarter and being the true procrastinator I am,I haven't done it. I plan on researching tonight and start writing tomorrow. That's the hope! Well I should get back to work or something. Vale!

Birthday Reflections

I had a really great b-day (granted I was tired as all crap because I stayed up all night writing a paper) but I got to go out to eat mexican food (we all know how much i LOVE tacos!) with Josh, Rachael and Brian. It was just so nice to get out of BJ! I had 26 people wish me a happy birthday on the facebook this year! It's funny hearing from people you haven't talked to in at least two years... I also got a box of random fun stuff from my grandma C., an embroidery book/dessert extravaganza from rachael, and a really nifty kite with two strings that does tricks and stuff and kite tatoos from Josh! Everything was just great.

Today I had to go to the housing office twice to get this form stuff straightened out since kate's gonna be my roomie again. I'm talking to her about moving to the inner room so I don't have to worry about people walking through so much when Josh comes over. She sounds like she should be cool with it. Tonight, rachael, brian, and I all met and ate our last meal in the dining hall for a while and then went downtown to the giant borders and got ice cream at ghiradelli's afterwards (i really do love their rasberry sundays!). Tomorrow rachael and I go to brian's for spring break (he's going home to colorado and is letting us use his apt. for the week) and we actually have to go back to our borders to get something I just thought of ;) It should be fun! Then Josh and I are hanging out in the evening. Lots to look forward to! :) Vale!

Here're a picture of my new kite!

paper break!

I finished Petrarch and the peasants cheered!!! Hahahahahahahaha!! I've also already finished Bruni. You've gotta love people who sum up their entire paper in the conclusion, so you only have to quote from the end to everything you want to say from them. Now we're headed for Guarino. He shouldn't take too long and then we hit machiavelli (the prince and the discourses, this is gonna take forever) and if I get really ambitious Castiglion's the Courtier (which i never even finished reading...) I might cuz castiglione. With both machiavellis i'll have 5 sources which was the goal. I'm listening to a fun poppy song to clear my head. Typing makes my brain hurt lol. Back to work i guess. Vale!

Ides of March!

Blah!!! Paper! I'm writing in the freakin' library?!

Wonderful Day

Today, was such a nice day. The weather was amazing!! I worked out with ROTC this morning and then I went downtown with Rachael, Brian, and Melinda to see the river which was died green today for the St. Patrick's day parade. We missed the Parade because of my ROTC thing but we had fun seeing the river. Then we all went to Chipotle for lunch which was kinda a mad house but fun nonetheless. Then we walked around a bit and they ditched me for the house bowling trip. I love my house, I love my friends, but I REALLY hate bowling lol. Why? I have no idea. That and I really needed to go home and write a paper and I though with all of them gone it would be easier to get work done. Anywho, after they left I walked up michigan avenue and bopped around a bit. Then i went to the giant borders and as per usual I spent way too much time there. This time was particularly bad because I didn't have a watch with me... So I spent at least a few hours there skimming through books. I bought a french vocab book to help me get ready for paris!!! There were at least three other books I almost bought but I pulled out a little bit of self control. Afterwards, I skipped to the train (gotta love remembering to bring your ipod for they way home). I waited forever for the 55 like usual and then walked home nice and slow as the sun was going down. Now, it's probably just wishful thinking, the nice weather, and seeing so much green that's messing with my head but I swear the grass on campus looked a little bit green on my way home!! I stopped by bart mart thinking to get something small for dinner but they didn't have anything I wanted so I pranced home mouthing the words to all the songs I was listening too. It was fun watching the wind play with my St. Patrick's day cat in the hat style hat. It was just like a wind sock and soooo much fun to play with. Anywho, I'm home now and ordered dinner from the med. which should be here soon. It was such a nice slow day... Almost as good as taking my puppies for a nice long walk.

Paris!!!

I'm going to Paris!!! Well only if I take french 205 next quarter and get a B or better. I can't blame them I mean I had to take my last french class pass/fail which never looks good. But I can do it!! I'm going to Paris!!! I can't believe it!! alksdjfl;askdjf;laskdjf;lasdkjf!!!!

rain

I really love the smell of rain. I've been sitting in the entrance of mathews just listening to the rain--the smell, the sound,it reminds me of home. Of the summer when it would rain everyday in the afternoon. I remember running out in the rain barefoot and walking for over an hour with my radio--getting soaking wet and coming home, wrapping myself in blankets, and watching a movie. I hate how you can't hear the rain in the dorm. I also remember how I used to go ride my bike for hours in the rain. I really liked how I could go out in the rain and just listen and there was no one around to distract me. Spinning in the rain! If only it were a bit warmer! I got to play in the rain this summer once, but not for very long. It only rained maybe three times this summer and it made me sad.

PPD

I have no play rehearsal tonight... Blah, I really didn't want this play to be over. When I got home from the cast party saturday night a spent a lot of time talking to rachael about all the little things I put into my character that no one noticed but me. From what I was writing on my post-its to the phone's movement/choreography. I remember in my high school drama class discussing the idea of a character's inner monologue but I'd never been in a show where I actually got to do that until now. I mean since it was all monologues there was a lot of time where Violet was changing and growing while other people where talking and I had all of her thoughts in my head. This play was a really amazing experience for me. Now all I can do is sit and wait until auditions next quarter. Hopefully, something will happen. As far as reactions to the show, everyone I talked to really liked the show as a whole. Most agreed it was very well put together and that the acting was great :) It was such a confusing show and it didn't really have an ending which unsettled some people. But all in all people enjoyed it. I met this one kid who came every night, and understood something different for all three nights. Well I'm sick of thinking about this play now. It's over. Yeah, so I've got three papers to write and one exam, and this quarter is over baby!! Oh and we're going to go see the Last Five Years on my birthday!!!! Wahoo!!!

One down, two to go!

Ok so the first show went rather well. The only major disaster was my platform that was rocking like crazy. Throughout the show that's all I was thinking about. I can't believe I didn't go and check out my space before the show... but oh well it's over and the audience didn't even notice. I really nailed my random word monologue and the migration monologue but again the phone calls were lacking. But hopefully, magic will happen tonight and tomorrow and the peasants will cheer!!! Oh and Rachael came last night and brought me flowers which was soooooooo sweet and put up with me while i ranted about how much i suck and all the crazy things that went wrong that only i knew about . The real kick was my lack of connection with the audience. Violet is in her own little world and so i completely forgot the audience was there. Anyways, stuff to do. Vale!

It Begins

Lent begins in a few days and I just started reading in this lenten prayer book. It's nice to have things like this to remind yourself what Lent is all about. For those of you who don't know, or have forgotten, the three pillars of lent are prayer, almsgiving, and fasting. So I'm trying to incorporate all three of these things into my lenten plan. Here it is so far:

~Friday Fasting
~Set aside time for prayer everyday (and use my lent prayer book!)
~Read Bible everyday (I think I'm going to go back to the new testament this year)
~Volunteer (I already e-mailed Father Pat about this already and he gave me a few ideas. He really wants me to sing in the choir...)
~Rosary on Sundays (Goes along with the prayer part)
~Love more, show love, be supportive of those around me, make someone smile everyday
~Spend time listening everyday (we all know my mouth gets away from me on a daily basis. But how can I hear God if I never shut up?!)

So that's the plan. It's a bit ambitious but I think I can do it. And I think I'm going to start now as a sort of warm-up for lent! Wish me luck!

:)

Yeah, so I just finished Q2Q and it was waaaaaaaaay shorter than you'd expect. (Q2Q for you non-theatre folk is when you go through the show and just run every light cue, sound cue, etc. and it takes forever!!!) The longer we went the sillier I got which was a bit problematic but it happens. Yesterday was a fun day. I played hookey from work (although technically I still had strep throat...) and went to Bio. Then I found Rachael and dragged her downtown with me. We went to the bank and then Argo Cafe (They have the most amazing tea!!). Then we walked around a little, and went to target. Nothing really special but it was fun hanging out with Rachael. I haven't seen her much cuz I've been so busy lately. Then we goofed off and went to dinner and then went and saw R&G which was amazing by the way. I hope our show is that good. Yeah, so now I'm just killing time because I thought Q2Q would take longer and I don't know what time I should get on the bus to meet Josh... I'll just have to play it by ear me thinks! Vale!

I was one busy little bird today!

So much stuff to do! Anywho, I went to ren. humanism, then went over blocking with cassie, got food (cuz classics was closed cuz there's mold or something), ran into a protest being led by a bunch of my naked theater friends, went to french class and almost fell asleep a bajillion times, then I went to the co-op book store to buy a book i need for a paper because the copy i have from the reg. has been recalled, then i went and PTed with lindsey and gabe, then i got dinner, and now i'm here killing time before the colman run :( I don't quite understand why the hell she has to see the show or what this is for but whatever. I'm gonna be a birdie and it's gonna be fun! Although the latter half of the play isn't as much fun. Oh and I have a sore throat! I'm so sick of chicago, literally! I've been sick at least 4 times this quarter and it's getting kinda rediculous! Blah! Sorry, I just really needed to rant lol. Now I'm better! OMG!! Google's picture today has people curling!!! That's pretty awesome. I have to say I found curling pretty funny and a lot more intense than you'd think. I especially liked this asian team because they sounded so funny when they were yelling to each other. I think I could be a broom person. I've got plenty of sweeping experience from working in restaurants, etc! Maybe one day... Well I'm gonna go do some reading or something.

I'm a dork!

Yeah so when I got into the cage for work I took of my coat and realized that I got chocolate all over my shirt from the chocolate chip muffin I ate for breakfast. How I managed this is a mistery! Ahhhhh Pride and Prejudice soundtrack! Anyways, still killing time at work. I just remembered that UT comittee elections are at six today and three people in my show are running so I have to go vote! Vale!

#243

Can you believe I have almost 250 blog posts?! Lots of wasting time in the library I guess... lol. Yeah, so I don't have rehearsal tonight!!! Wahoo!! I'm gonna sleep! That's the plan anyways and read some Praise of Folly. So my play opens next week! I have an appointment to meet with Cassie to really cement my blocking. I think the problem is that I get so into Violet that I just forget about everything else. That and I have the most blocking for the entire show although I might be tied with Fuscia. I've never had such blocking problems though which is annoying. Anywho, two hours of work and then nap!! Oh, and rasberry tea is awesome. Oh yeah, Rachael and my tea party study break last night was fun and a sucess. They ate everything! And we had a lot of food! I forgot to take a picture of my petits fours. Oh well... Yeah but what did I learn from the adventure that was petits fours? I learned that fondant is a pain to work with and messy as hell! lol. I gave up with it less than half way through and just put butter cream on the rest. Oh and I accedentally put almond extract in half of them instead of lemon and then i spilled the ENTIRE bottle of lemon extract which made Rachael sad so I have to buy her more. Well off to work!

P.S. Petits Fours means little ovens in case you were wondering!
